Richard stood just outside the holodeck checking his PaDD one more time as he waited for the Chief counselor. He smiled when he thought about their first meeting and wondered if she would remember him. Encounters in the lounge were casual enough that sometimes people forgot things though he felt there was little chance of that.

"Sugar!" Amelia shouted, she was late to meet the good Doctor at the holodeck, she knew she should have set a reminder, or even wore her watch but nooo she had to think ~Oh no, I'll just remember...

Running around the corner she'd eventually reached the area the holodeck was on. Out of breath she reached the doctor, "Doc--tor! I am sooo... sorry, I totally lost track of time!" she said catching her breath, "Had a Bolian that was feeling a bit blue." She joked.

The Chief Medical Officer chuckled, "don't let it worry you Lieutenant I've had my share of Bolians feeling blue, Orions green with envy and Vulcans finding logical reasons to behave illogically."

He stepped forward activating the door way to the holodeck and glanced around at the now not so empty holodeck. Beds lined the wall as did carts with medical supplies and equipment.

"So what do you think counselor of our emergency sickbay?" Richard asked turning towards the woman, "I was hoping for your opinion on it and if you would be willing to be in control of this area if we have to use it."

"Me?" she asked slightly stunned, "My medical knowledge is alright but I don't have the experience that you do Dr. Ballston, surely there would be other more suited to running this place than I? she asked again. She had her own nagging doubt issues when it came to areas she wasn't too familiar with but if this was to happen she was sure it due to some unknown faith in her.

"Who would you recommend," Richard said with his eyebrows furrowed. He shook his head, "counselor there are three doctors on this ship and Commander Montgomery will have her hands full elsewhere and I will be handling the main sickbay."

The Azzian smiled, "There are only three of us and this is more of a triage and non-critical care location."

Amelia grumped, "Alright, as long as I can have the EMH? I'd feel more comfortable with a photonic M.D. at least... It's just that if anything happens this'll be my first situation like that..." she added.

Richard chuckled as he smile at the woman, "Sure, I'll put you on triage then and you and Bones can work out the rest of the details."

"Bones... odd name for an EMH. I hope this isn't where you change his physical parameters and I get a skeleton walking around the holodeck... I don't think patients would find that calming... nor I for that matter." she said with a shudder.

Richard laughed and blushed slightly, "Well the EMH is actually based on a rather famous physician, Doctor Leonard McCoy. I hate to admit it but I had to look up who that was." He grinned and drew in a breath, "I think Doctor McCoy would probably work better."

"Hmm, ok, but I swear if I see one skeleton or bone I'll know you're at it Richard." she mused. "Do you think it'll come to it, using the triage room?" she asked rather pensively.

Richard laughed again, "I'm not a good prankster doctor but no I certainly think the chances are slim but we are headed into uncharted territory and I really want to be certain we are prepared for it."

"No I understand, better safe than sorry in unknown circumstances... although I'm pretty sure your patients will have more fear in coming to this room with me hear than facing an angry Klingon with a torn in his claws..." she said smiling.

"Give yourself some credit doctor," Richard replied furrowing his brow, "trust me if they make it here and they see a confident woman helping them they will be think you are the most competent person in the ship." He shook his head, "that's really the secret, act as if you know exactly what is going on and everyone will believe it."

"You'd think I was a rubbish counsellor," she laughed, "take me out of my comfort zone and I'm as shaky as a leaf, but I will try to portray an air of confidence around me. I'm good at doing that, just ask my brothers when I got in trouble and they got the blame... no-one can blame this baby face." she finished smiling widely at him.

"I'll keep that in mind," the CMO said with a chuckle, "oh and you can call me Richard if you wish, just don't do it in front of an admiral or something that might give us a lecture on proper protocol."

"Ok, Richard. I don't think I'll be seeing any Admirals anytime soon we'll be just fine." she said as her watch began to chime, "Do you mind if I shoot off, got an appointment coming up."

"Not at all," Richard said with a grin, "don't want to keep them waiting, the natives grow anxious."

"And when they do, spears get thrown and I'm not that quick to dodge them." she said turning from him, "I'll catch up with you later Richard." She said his name once more just for emphasis, maybe she'd made her first friend.
