Mission: Episode 10 - New Home, Same Pioneers
Location: Rockwell's Quarters
Timeline: MD007 2000 hrs

That went better than expected. Clarissa told herself, as she got ready to put her stuff away. Even though Jayden was practically living with her, he still had his own quarters. She talked to him not that long ago, about abandoning his old place.

She knew she needed to get on him about that, and get him to move on a full time basis. She knew it would be a big step for them, she felt they were both ready for that step.

Clarissa walked over to her bed. It was prepared, and as she laid down in the room, she noticed something. There was really no space for him to put anything in this room. She wondered if this was partially why he had yet to fully move in.

She started to look around the room, debating what she could either get ride of, to make space for some of his stuff. If they were going to make this work, then he needed to feel like it was his home too.

Deep in her thoughts she kept trying to think, what to toss first. But she had no idea. She got off the bed, and walked over to the dresser stand. She loved all of her nick nacks. Then she opened the drawers, to check out the space. She had a lot of things in the dresser. She debated to herself, maybe it would be easier to get another dresser.

But where to put it, she wondered, looking for a place to put it, that would not be in the way of the functionality of the room. If she removed her two night stands on either side of her bed, and pushed it over to the wall, she can make room for another dresser.

"I think that will work." Clarissa said, as she started to talk to herself. No one else was in the room. Which she did not mind at the moment, she was still trying to debate if she wanted to remove the two end tables on either end of her bed, to make room for his stuff. She already decided his ship t shirts needed to be put back in the replicator and recycled.

Then in the silence the ship's computer chimed in. "Incomming call for Lieutenant Clarissa Rockwell." The sudden noise broke her concentration. Clarissa was not expecting any calls. She wondered who was on the other end of the call, and what they wanted.

"Computer who is the call from?" Clarissa asked, wondering who she would be talking too on the other end.

The computer continued on. "Lieutenant Elloma Essu, from Empok Nor, do you wish to accept the call?" The Computer called out.

"Accept the call, and route it to my desk." Clarissa said, a little surprised that Elle was reaching out to her. It had been a little while since they talked.

Clarissa walked over to her desk, and the call opened up. "Elle, you old devil." Clarissa said with a big grin on her face, as she took a seat.

"Rissie." Simply replied Elloma. She was excited to see her friend on the other end of the call, and available to talk. She really had missed spending time with her on the USS Pioneer.

"What's up, I doubt this is a social call." Clarissa said, with a big grin on her face. She wondered what Elle needed from her.

"Hey do you remember the time we played tether ball." Elle asked over the subspace call. She hoped that Clarissa got the reference.

"I do, I remember you won that match." Clarissa said. To the average person, that would be an indicator of two people talking about playing tetherball. In reality she was giving her a code.

Clarissa remembered how to respond to the code. Elloma had a big grin on her face. "It was a touch and go, I remember playing a close game, it seemed like we both took turns trying to secure the ball on our perspective side." Elloma said in the clear. She was basically telling Clarissa to secure the line, and encrypt the message on a rotating cryption.

Clarissa did as she was asked. She started to get a download from Elloma. "That was a great game. My only regret was letting you beat me." Elloma suggested with a big grin on her face.

"Oh you let me beat you, is that it?" Elloma asked with a big smile on her face.

"It's the way I want to remember it." Clarissa said, keeping the facade up. "When you do you think, we will get that rematch. Sorry we could not stay to help you get station back online. Starfleet wanted us to divert course immediately to Starbase Sirius." Clarissa said to Elloma, feeling a little guilty.

"Probably not for a while, seeing how the Pioneer is going to the romulan border, and I am still working on repairs and getting this station back on her feet." Elloma suggested over the call. The station was doing better than she led on, but she did not want to say that, to anyone who might be listening in, even through the encryption.

"Can you do me a favor Rissie?" Elloma asked, knowing that Clarissa would get the meaning of the message.

"Sure." Clarissa said, with a big grin. She wondered, who she needed to give the file too.

"Can you tell the captain I said hi, and that I miss him and Chloe in after 11." Elloma said, with a big smile on her face.

"Those were the good old days, you coming back to the Pioneer, any time soon?" Clarissa asked.

"No, I am being offered a promotion and a transfer to another department." Elloma said, with a big grin on her face.

"That is wonderful news Elle. You getting re assigned or staying on the station?" Clarissa asked. She was a little jealous. She was still a Lieutenant Junior Grade, and her friend was being promoted to full lieutenant.

"Staying on the station, you are looking at the new chief strategic operations officer for Empok Nor." Elloma said, with a big grin on her face.

"Really?" Clarissa said a little surprised. She was a little bummmed out by that news. But at the same time she was happy for her. "Congratulations Elle, you deserve it."

"Thanks, but don't give me that. You are sad." Elloma said, feeling a little guilty for taking the promotion. They had talked about serving together. But in all honesty Elloma felt like a third wheel, especially after Clarissa met Jayden.

Beyond that, she knew this was a good career move for her. And she knew she had to take it. She hoped someday to serve on a starship again, but that day would not be today.

"Yes I am, but I am also happy for you. And if we being honest Elle, a little envious of you. I just got my pip not to long ago." Clarissa pointed out to her.

"Thanks, and congrats on that pip. I was hoping to see you in uniform. But I know its late on the Pioneer." Elloma said, knowing that Clarissa was now off duty.

"I have a picture, andI can send it to you." Clarissa suggested with a big grin on her face.

"Sure." Elloma said, with a big grin on her face.

"Sending now." Clarissa said, as she uploaded a pic for Elloma to see on her monitor.

Elloma opened the image and said with a big grin. "It looks good on you."

"Thanks, I wish you would have been here. I would have had you put it on my collar." Clarissa said, with a sad look on her face.

"That is sweet, if you were here, I would have you put on my pip too." Elloma suggested to her, feeling a little guilty, for being so far away. But loving the fact, if she was there, that Rissie would have allowed her the honor, of putting on that pip.

"I think we are both on a path, and we both need to see this through." Clarissa said, hating the fact they were so far apart. She knew they needed to be apart at this moment in their friendship.

"I know you are right, but that does not make this any easier." Elloma suggested to Clarissa, as the scene starts to fade away. Elloma did her best to hide the tears, she could feel them developing slowly.

Clarissa just smiled, and held back her tears of sadness as the scene fades, with the two ladies talking. She could not believe it would be a while, before they saw each other again. Saying good-bye was always hard. She knew they were both going in different directions, and this was something they needed to do, but it did not make it easy.
