Mission: Episode 11 - Family Matters
Location: After 11 - Deck 11 - USS Pioneer
Timeline: MD003 2100 hrs

Lax Myles, recent transplant from Empok nor was off duty. And she felt sort of antsy. That was just the way she was more or less. And having nothing to do she donned a "USS Hornet" t shirt and sweats, intending to go out for a run.

That is, until her stomach began to rumble. "Or..I can eat first. Darn stomach " She laughed, to herself. So she pulled up a map of the ship. "After eleven...that seems nice."

She headed straight there, getting herself a bowl of fruit and found a table.

Having got Helena squared away, Hermia headed to After Eleven for a quiet drink. She ordered an Irish whisky, got it and looked for a table. Spotting Lax, she walked over. "Hi, mind if I join you?" She asked the other woman.

Lax lit up. "Sure! the more the marrier...er merrier." she said, turning slightly red at the word she just now invented.

"Thanks." She said taking the chair opposite Lax. "Are you new to the ship?" She asked. "I'm Hermia O'Rourke, one of the Pioneer's medical officers." She added by way of an introduction.

"Pleasure to meet you. I'm Lax Myles, I just recently transferred in from Empok Nor as a damage control specialist." She smiled. "Well, full name is Lwaxana, but I think Lax is easier." She laughed a little.

"You too, Lax." Hermia said. "Myles, are you any relation to our Security Chief?" She asked.

"You mean Larim? He's my husband actually. " Lax chuckled.

"Great, I've heard he's a good man." Hermia said with a smile.

Lax smiled back. "Thanks a lot." she said

"Just glad to be on a ship to be honest. After all that excitment on the station." Lax cracked a smile. "Being near Larim is just a bonus.." She sipped her drink. "Probably be winging by sickbay later on by the way."

Eleanor still getting her bearings, thought she would check out after 11, after all, if she ever needed to host a diplomatic event she better well check on what the ship had to offer, in way of facilities. Entering the establishment she gave it a once over with her eyes, taking everything in. Was it busy, did people seem happy etc, the information she need was in the small details, the little things? She headed to the bar and waited to be served.

Jenn walked in to after 11 and went to her usual spot at the bar. Only to find someone else already sitting there. Not willing to cause a scene she pulled herself on the stool next to it and gave a quick glance. "Ensign Eleanor Raine, diplomatic officer," She said a bit calmly and cold. "Welcome to the pioneer." She then turned to the diplomat, "You're in my spot."

Eleanor glanced up, quickly eying the women up, was she trying to intimidate her? Probably not, it was up to any good diplomat or intelligence officer to be in the know, after all, Eleanor had done the same and looked at crew records. "My apologies, Staff Warrant Officer Masters." she replied with a smile and shifted over a seat "At least I've kept it warm for you, allow me to get you a drink to apologise, I wasn't aware it was your usual spot, but duly noted for future reference," she said, gracefully sliding from the chair to the one next to it.

Jenn sat down and sighed, "It's alright I guess, Starfleet officers shouldn't squabble over such petty things right." She turned to the bartender. "Scotch." She said. "No scratch that. What do you want, ensign?"

Eleanor pondered, before looking at the bartender "Surprise me." she said before turning her gaze back to the officer, watching her every move, assessing her and making mental notes.

"How about something sweet and strong?" Jenn looked at the bartender. "It's been awhile. I almost forgot how it tastes. Maybe a fruity cocktail."

The bartender put two drinks in front of them. And took it and took a sip from it. "Wow. I missed this." She looked over to the diplomat.

Eleanor closed her eyes and took a sip of the drink, she let out a gentle hum savouring the taste before she smiled and gently opened her eyes. "Nice, but not as strong as the good stuff." she said with a wicked grin on her face "I shall introduce you to my own personal private stock at some point," she said dropping a hint, befriending Jennifer was on her to-do list, after all, she was in charge on intel and intel was Eleanor's business after all.

Jen shrugged. "I am looking forward to it then, just tell me when and where and I will see if I have an opening." She grinned leaning on the bar, looking in an empty glass once more.

Lax stabbed at her bowl only to find that it was empty.. "Excuse me, need a refill? Can I get you something ?" She asked.

"I'll have a tropical fruit punch. Thanks." Hermia said.

Lax nodded and went up to the bar. She was going to get some fruit, but thirst had set in pretty quick. As she was about to order she noticed someone she had met during a party she was at once. She went over to say hi

From the corner of her eye she saw Lax approaching. She turned around before Lax could say anything. "Hey, Lax, nice to see you? Have you met the new diplomatic officer." She pointed to Eleanor. "Lieutenant Eleanor Raine, meet Lwaxana Myles, she's an engineer. And her husband is the security chief."

"Call me Lax. Everyone does." She grinned. "And nice to see you too, Jenn." She added. "Pleasure to meet you, Eleanor. Wanna join us? Hernia and I are sharing a table."

Jenn looked over Lax's shoulder. "Sounds good," she ordered another drink for her and Eleanor and then walked over to the table with hers in hand. "Hey doctor, how is sickbay these days?" She said, trying to get a conversation going.

"Not bad, just the normal minor injuries that occur on any starship." Hermia said. "How goes the 'spy game'?"

Jenn laughed as she sat down across from Hermia. "Not much spying at the moment, right now its mostly data analyzing, and there is a lot of it. It may sound boring, but there is a lot of interesting stuff coming out of that data, you can't imagine."

"Well, I'm sure it is, but its a bit too abstract for me." Hermia said. "I'm sure I'd bore you in seconds, if I started talking medicine."

Jenn chuckled. "Well, is that a challenge? To see which department is more boring? Medical or Intelligence? Honestly, I don't think I would dare to operate on someone without the proper training and licences. Also, spying isn't always the adventure they make it out to be. Sometimes it requires you to just sit around and just listen."

"Being a surgeon isn't all glamour, saving lives is only part of it, there is also all the learning of new techniques, and all the admin that is involved," Hermia said. "Also as assistant CMO, I'm always on call." She added.

"I'd put engineering on that list" Lax chuckled. "Jeffries tube decor probably hasn't changed much since Kirk's enterprise."

Eleanor sat quietly listening to the conversation, after all being a diplomat required you to listen and get to know people, that way you might just pick up something that could provide useful, much like intelligence diplomacy was certainly a skill. Taking a sip from her drink, she sat slightly forward.

"So, Lwaxana is married to the Chief of security, what about the rest of you ladies, me I'm single and I'm already wanting to know if there are lots of cute men available for eye candy," she said with a smile.

"I'm single." Hermia said. "I made the mistake of marrying a narcissist and now I'm a little gun shy about relationships."

Jenn listened to Hermia, before she pitched in, "I am getting married to one of my subordinates, Chief Petty officer Leslie Calhoun. We met when I was just an intelligence officer. At the time he was outranking me." She smiled as she remembered.

She then turned to Eleanor, "In terms of eye candy, I am not sure what you're actually interested in. We have a variety of people here."

Eleanor laughed out loud "Oh, that's good to know." she said with a smile as she began to relax. "I'm certainly looking forward to my posting, and to of course, getting to know the crew," she said, holding up her drink. "To new beginnings and new friends."

Hermia raised her own glass. "To new beginnings and new friends." She agreed.

Jen just raised her glass as and just quietly nodded in agreement.

Lax rsised her own glass. "Cheers" she said
