Mission: Episode 10 - New Home, Same Pioneers
Location: Deck- Marine CO's Office
Timeline: MD001 1900

Neil was working on reports when the Corporal of the Guard announced a visitor. Leaning back in his chair, he rubbed at his eyes and flinched slightly as his fingers traced the reddened skin on his face.

When his suit had blown, he'd been left with minor burns on the exposed parts of his body...namely his hands and face. He looked comical but he'd checked with the auto-doc and been told it would all fade.

As a historical aside, Bones had told him he looked like he'd gotten too much sun and would recommend tanning lotion and a hat.

Neil had accepted the lotion notion and told Bones to send the hat to Malbrooke.

He pushed aside the flimsy's and PADD's on his desk and looked up as Jenn walked in.

Jenn walked in with a smile on her face and put a bottle of scotch on the table. "One of the last Billy and I got. I think we most likely have to get some more. Well you get the glasses. I wanted to ask you something important."

Neil eyed her for a moment, but opened a bottom desk drawer and pulled out two kraft cheese glasses setting them on the blotter. He cracked the seal of the bottle and poured measures into both juice glasses and asked, "Ok, Jenn. Whatever you need."

Jenn took one of the glasses and just held it. "So, to try and come right to the point, I have asked Billy Calhoun to marry me. And as you know, my parents are dead. And I have no father, never any father figure. And tradition would require me to ask my brother. But my brother has a mental condition, and lives alone on Earth with his caretakers. And having no one else to ask, I would ask the one person I trust the most and see as my brother. So Neil, would take the honor of giving me away?"

Regarding her gravely, Neil looked into her face and after a few moments nodded. "Of course, Jenn. It would truly be my honor. Congratulations by the way....I'm assuming he said yes?"

The Marines eyes glinted with humor as he asked that and he stood, reaching out his glass to touch hers.

Jenn reached over and their glasses met. "Well, I wouldn't be asking you this if he hadn't said yes." She smiled. "Thank you, Neil. This would also mean you will have to dance with me, I hope you are prepared." She grinned.

Neil took a taste of the scotch, sampling it over his tongue before swallowing and replied, "Lucky for you I recently completed the Marine Officer comportment training." After another sip, he continued, "But even before that my mother insisted I learn. Don't worry, I won't be stepping on your toes."

Jenn giggled, "That's good to hear. Cause I have no idea what I am doing. I didn't had parents who could teach me. And my aunt didn't see the point for me. She never thought I would need it. And I am an academy drop out, my specialty is hacking."

"Really? I had no idea," Neil said, his eyes wide as he acted shocked. He and Jenn had known each other for a while now but he guessed she was starting to feel the wedding jitters he'd heard about. "I'm not sure how much time we have before the wedding, but if you want to put in a few hours of practice we can work it out."

Then he grinned and looked pointedly at her feet. "You do know which is which, yeah?"

Jenn chuckled. "Don't worry about that, at least I know that. And I look forward to the practice." She did. She probably be dancing a lot on the wedding.

Neil stood and poured more of the scotch into both of their glasses and hoisted his in a toast, "Well, here's to a happily ever after? How long a leave are you two planning for the honeymoon?"

Jenn hadn't thought about the honeymoon. Right now she was just full of the wedding right now. So much to do, and so little time. "Ehm.. well I haven't discussed that part with Billy yet. I have been so busy with the wedding planning and the memorial." She sighed when she was reminded of her loss.

Quietly, Neil stated "I was sorry to hear about Dana, Jenn. You're riding a pretty emotional roller coaster just now with everything. If I can do anything, let me know? Even if you just need to get drunk with someone and sit stare into the black, we can do that."

Jenn thought a moment. "I know something better." She put her hands on the desk. "Let's get drunk, Jenn style." She got up and continued. "Let's go to after 11 and have Chloe pour us some of the sweetest cocktails she can mix up. I have been drinking so much of this stuff already, I would like a change in drinks now." She pointed to the bottle Scotch on the table.

Niel winced slightly and then chuckled. "I'm all for pouring them down but I don't know about the sweet...."Standing, he pulled on his beret. "But, that all can be negotiated."

She laughed and said, "And here I thought you wanted to get drunk with me."

"I didn't say I wasn't going to get drunk," Neil replied evenly, "I just don't think I can handle a lot of sweet." Then he looked at Jenn and asked, "So, how soon do you plan to get married?"

"Well, I believe Billy wants the captain to perform the ceremony. I am not much for big weddings, so much to organise. But I guess people expect a big reception. I just don't want it so fancy."

Neil grinned at that, "Then don't tell too many people Jenn. The more that know, the more the show..."
