Kat joined Ameri and Jayna. "Well, ladies, shall we see where this path leads?"

Jayna nodded. "After you, Lieutenant," she said to Ameri.

“Thanks,” Ameri replied. “Let’s keep our eyes out for trouble.”

And now, the continuation

They walked a ways down the path without incident. It seemed to turn at random intervals, each time the path grew more narrow. Finally it stopped at a narrow canyon that was a dozen feet wide and about sixty feet deep.

Quinn felt like this could be a trap. He started to slowly reach for his weapon. Something seemed a little off. He hoped it was just a little parnoia.

Jayna went to the edge and looked for footprints. "Nothing recent," she said. "The question is, do we find a way across or down?"

"That depends on where the path is supposed to go," Kat said, joining Jayna at the ledge. She looked down where a river raced through the canyon. "It might be easier to cross up here than down there."

“I vote for across,” Ameri concurred. “Think of all the time it will take going down and back up again.” Though she thought to herself, it was an awfully long way down if they didn’t make it and shuddered.

"So, we either find or make a grappling hook to attach to something on the other side, or find a way to launch one of us across with a rope tied to his or her waist," Jayna said, coming up to join the other women. "Two ropes would be more secure for a crossing."

“Two ropes would be better.” Ameri nodded. “We need to find some and then decide which of us is going to be launched across.”

"I'll do it, sort of the job as first officer." Quinn suggested a little nervously. But he needed to set the example. And volunteer for the assignment, that was potentially dangerous.

"I can do it," Jayna interjected. "I'm lighter and more easily tossed." She was also the most expendable member of the team. She looked around. "Anything we can use to make a slingshot? A trebuchet is out of the question.

"Alright, if you want to do it that badly. Be my guest." Quinn said, as he watched to see what Jayna, could come up with to solve this mystery. He liked the fact, she was taking initiative.

“Let’s all look around,” Ameri suggested. She was relieved Quinn wasn’t flying over there. When he had volunteered she understood but almost had a heart attack. She turned to Jayna. “I swear I saw a sack back there on the path. Would it help?”

"It might," Jayna replied. "If it's not too far, go get it, but take someone with you."

"I'll get some vines," Kat said, heading for the nearest tree. "Come on, Ty, you can be my partner."

"Right..." Tyler said taking hold of the fine and giving it a solid tug to make sure that it was secure and would bear the weight. In his best Tarzan impression he grabbed his wife and whispered. "Me Tarzan, you Jane..." with that he swung across.

Kat was caught totally off-guard by her husband. She squealed, half afraid they weren't going to make it. But once they landed safely, she smacked him on the shoulder and then hugged him. "You are incorrigible. I need to encorrige you more often." She had to admit, she wouldn't mind doing it again. Tarzan Tyler was pretty sexy.

"You know me m'lady. Take the quickest route if it is available, and especially if it has bravado." He smiled and tossed the vine back to the rest of the group.

She leaned forward and kissed him. "That's just one of the many reasons I love you."

Jayna retrieved the vine to share with the others. When Quinn and Ameri arrived, she told them what the captain had done, then handed them the vine to go next.

Ameri turned to Quinn. “You want to go back with me?”

She asked him. “It wasn’t too far back there.”

Quinn had a moral obligation to the crew, and to his wife. He preferred they all stay together. He grabbed the vine. "Come one, this looks fun. Where is your sense of adventure?" He asked Ameri, and then looked over to Jayna.

Jayna came back to the ledge and saw that the captain and commander were both on the other side. She shook her head. The captain had solved the problem in his own way. Now, she waited for the others so they could join the two.

Quinn grabbed the vine and swung to the other side, making a silly tarzan style call out. He was trying to motivate the two ladies to follow his lead.

Ameri grabbed the vine. It was a long way down, if she got killed she was never going to forgive Quinn. She swung to the other side and let go, rolling as she landed. She dusted herself off. “I will remind you of my sense of adventure one day Commander Quinn.” She replied with a roll of her eyes.

Jayna went last, checking the vine to be sure it would hold her weight after the others. Then she swung across. She secured the vine on this side, in case they had to use it to get back. "That was fun. Now, let's see where the trail goes. "She indicated for the others to lead off.

Quinn was very proud of his wife. She looked so hot, and watching her swing over to him, was incredible. She looked like an angel, gliding through the air, with peace and poise. Quinn smiled as she came across. After Jayna crossed, he looked over to Tyler. "Where too Captain?" He asked. This adventure, was starting to excite his youthful nature.

Ameri looked around as they waited for the captain to speak. There was a path ahead but it was full of vines and weeds. It would not be easy but she had a feeling it was their next step in this puzzle.

"I think the question is, do we let Tarzan lead, or Cheetah?" Kat asked.

"I think that makes me the monkey," Jayna interjected as she was clearly low man on the totem pole.
