"How does it feel?" Quinn asked, as he pulled his wife in close. They had both just finished there shift. He had been wanting to see Ameri all day long. And ask her about how her day went in her new role as Chief Operations Officer. Now that he had the chance, all he wanted to do was hold her close.

Ameri smiled. “I love it, honestly!” It has been a good day. “I was concerned that the staff would think I stole Wakefield’s position but everyone seemed to embrace my taking over.” She kissed him. “Thank you!” Ameri looked in his eyes. “For believing in me as my husband and as an officer.” She knew wife or not he would never have recommended her had he thought she wasn’t right for the position.

"Any conflicts with Dana?" He asked, still feeling guilty that she was demoted down to Ensign. She was lucky she still had a commission. Especially after the stunt she pulled.

“None so far,” Ameri returned. She kept her face free of emotion. She was not happy that she had to find out from Dana that she was staying. Some warning from command would have been nice. She had her theory, this was another test and she wasn’t going to react.

"If she gives you any problems, tell me." Quinn said, he would re assign Dana to another position. He was not going to let Dana start round 2 of their quarrel.

“I will,” Ameri murmured. She wasn’t planning on their being any. It was tough not being able to express her feelings about her job but Quinn was the first Officer and he was obligated to share what he knew. “Things will be fine, Quinn. I had a good talk with Paul Michael, we seem to be on the same page.”

"Happy to hear that, I was a little concerned over that." Quinn said, debating if he really wanted to go into a full long conversation about why he chose her over Paul. "The department is in good hands, sounds like the team for the most part is in place, and if you need support with Dana, don't hesitate to ask for it." He said, with a loving smile.

“Our conversation went well when she informed me she was assigned to work under me,” Ameri almost winced when she heard an edge of irritation in her voice. “Apologies were made by both of us and I asked her to put it in the past. We shall see.”

"Good, maybe tonight I won't be in the dog house." He said in a playful manner. Feeling very relieved the matter was now over, and they all can move on.

“No doghouse for my husband,” Ameri smiled at him. “He believes in me.” She decided to change the subject. “What shall we do for dinner?”

"Not sure, might be a replicator night." Quinn teased, knowing Ameri would not go for that idea. He pulled her closer to him, still looking into her eyes.

“I don’t think so,” Ameri replied. “I will come up with something.” She tipped her head sideways. “I don’t hear Enya, did you see her when you came in?”

"No." Quinn said, trying to hold back his laughter. Enya was right behind her mother. She was mimicking her mother, about the idea of the replicator for dinner tonight.

Ameri frowned. “She isn’t supposed to leave without letting one of us know.” She started to turn and jumped. “Enya!” Then gave Quinn a look. “You two are terrible!”

"What did I do?" Quinn asked, as he gave a small wink to Enya. "I am just a simple husband." He suggested to her. He was not very good at lying to his wife. Which was a good thing.

Ameri stared at them both and headed into the kitchen without a word. She smiled to herself as she looked for something to make for dinner. It had always been like this. Enya And Quinn were a lot alike. Enya didn’t like any of the things Ameri did. She remembered when she had been born, Ameri had great plans of them shopping together, doing girl things. But like a lot of dreams they didn’t come true.

Quinn walked over to the couch. He was a little taken by the moment. He was curious what Ameri was going to make for dinner. "What do you think of bringing home, some of the crew once in a while. Maybe the senior staff in inter volts of course. So we can get a chance to know them all, and offer them non replicator food." He asked, curious to see what Ameri would say.

“I like that idea,” Ameri replied. “Who do you want to start with?” She looked over at him. “Chicken alfredo, meatloaf, steaks or spaghetti?”

"Can't go wrong with spaghetti." Quinn said with a big grin on his face. Then he continued on. 'Maybe Captain Tremble. Dunno, I have not given it much thought yet. Wanted to run it by you."

“I think it will strengthen the command and crew,” Ameri murmured as she got to work. “Find our what he likes to eat and I will plan the meal.” She smiled and looked at him.

"I will reach out to him." Quinn said, with a big grin on his face. "How goes your training with the Captain?" Quinn asked, as he started to get comfy on the couch.

“Quite well,” she replied with a smile. “He thinks I am a quick learner.” Ameri stared at him for a long moment and shook her head. “Meatballs, yes or no?”

"Meat balls." He said with a big grin on his face. "Glad to hear the training is going well." Quinn told her. "I tend to agree with the Captain, you are a quick learner." He said, feeling very proud of her.

“Am I?” Ameri stopped and looked at him. “Is that because of my abilities in Operations or my calmness when Dana came to inform me she was staying?” She kept her voice pleasant though she was certain Quinn wasn’t fooled. “I can’t help but wonder if that was yet another test.”

"You got the job, testing is over." Quinn told his lovely wife. She had every right, to question him. At least she was being subtle and cute about it. "You think that test is hard, wait till you take the Commander's bridge officer test." Quinn said, he wanted her to know. There was a harder test out there, she needed to completed. But she had time.

Ameri smiled. “You make a strong point and I am not angry with you.” She paused keeping the smile on her face. “Off the record, Tyler is an ass and I don’t care if you tell him. He knows better.” Her eyes widened. “What do you mean take the command test, I just made department head!”

"Why is Tyler an ass?" Quinn asked, a little surprised she would say that about about their captain. What was her beef with him now? Quinn gave the order for Dana to test her, not Tyler.

“Why?” Ameri shook her head. “For not informing me as department head that I was keeping Dana. Considering I also have Paul and Jayden who understandably may have issues with her, the least he could have done was told me instead of sending her to my office to tell me herself.” She shook her head. “It isn’t a big deal, she is here and we shall see how things progress.” Her eyes met his. “I was speaking to my husband about my personal opinion not the captain’s first Officer.”

"I'm both, so sometimes those lines are gray." He said, before he could finish he noticed Enya.

"I'm hungry Momma." Enya said, feeling like there needed to be a change of conversation.

“Dinner will be ready by the time you and your dad set the table.” She got what Quinn was saying. She would need to keep her opinions to herself from now on because even at home he was fleet first. “

Enya hopped off the sofa, and started to reach for the plates, and silverware. Momma did not have to tell her twice. As she started to get things in order.

"Will discuss this more tonight, before bed. I think Enya is tired of us talking about this." He said Ameri.

Ameri smiled at him and nodded. “I agree. It is family time.” She turned and started putting dinner on the table.

Quinn smiled, knowing later tonight. They would have a more indepth conversation about Dana. Not ideal, but needed to happen. The scene starts to fade away.
