Mission: Episode 8 - The Silence
Location: Tallida Ovaa's Quarters - Deck 2 - USS Pioneer
Timeline: MD003 0700

Tallida slowly woke up, this was normal, but something was different. Her bed was warm, which was more than pleasent for the typically cold Angosian. It took her brain a moment to realize that there was someone in her bed. When her eyes opened a smile crossed her lips at the tossled hair of Neil came into view. She lightly touched his face making sure that she didn't wake him up when she heard rustling out in her living room. "Shit," She said softly. She carefully removed herself from the bed and grabbed her robe.

"Merriam, what are you doing?" Tallida asked as she spotted Merriam in the living room. The older women turned towards Tallida. "Oh, Lovie, I am so happy for you. Is that the Marine CO? You didn't tell me how sexy his ass was." She laughed as she pulled the blonde into a hug. "Shhh, Merr." She replied for once recoiling from the hug, but only out of embarrassment. "He is sleeping."

Neil had woken when she moved. He wasn't used to sharing a bunk.

Especially with a scantily clad female.

Regardless of how relaxed he was.

As she left the room, he heard voices. Neil slid from the bed soundlessly, pulled on skivvies and padded across the room. He caught site of the older woman, recognizing her from Tallida's description.

The fact that the Doctor had named her helped. He was nothing, if not sharp.

"What's this about my ass," he grinned, coming up behind Talli, standing just a few inches behind her.

Tallida jumped when she heard his voice behind her, but melted in to a giggle. "Oh gods, you both are horrible." She slapped him on the shoulder before wrapping her arms around his neck and kissing him. "Hi," She said softly. "Neil, Merriam." she motioned towards the hologram. "Merriam, Captain Cornelius Tremble Marine Commanding Officer, and owner of those pants." She added as she took the pants the women had retrieved from the floor.

Neil kissed her deeply, squeezing her in his arms briefly before they broke and he grinned. "No. Horrible would have been if I hadn't put anything on." Then he looked over her shoulder, "Hello Merriam. Sorry about those. They must be broken, as they didn't want to stay on. Though, that could be a matter of geography."

"Ooo, I like him." Merriam started. "Better then those tramps you have brought back in the past." Tallida rolled her eyes at the women. "Why are you here Merriam?" She asked. The older women put her hand over her heart in mock hurt. "You shut down my program every time you come home with him, and I am the one being scolded for wanting to meet the man?" Tallida groaned turning to rest her head on Neil's chest but then broke into a giggle. "I am sorry about her."

Neil kept his arms wrapped around her, for now resisting the temptation to mess with the belt of her robe. "Oh, I don't know. It's handy to have someone help tidy round when a hurricane takes apart your closet...." He glanced around and shook his head in mock amazement. "How did the shirt get into the kitchen?"

Talli rolled her eyes as Merriam's narrowed at Neil. "It was you?!?" The woman placed her hand on her rounded hips with the shirt still in hand. "Were you the one that put Talli's entire closet on the floor?" She took a few steps closer to where the pair were standing. Talli ducked under his arm, "You are on your own, babe." She said stopping and look at him with a smile at her own term of endearment. "I will be in the kitchen."

Neil eyed the hologram, then Talli, then the back of Talli's front and then back to the hologram again and said. "Yes. Though to be fair, I literally swept the Doctor off of her feet, carried her into the room, found the bed fully loaded with the clothing and, being a simple marine..applied leverage to rid the bed of said clothing."

He folded his arms at that point and said, "However, that entire plan met with resistance and I ended up cast upon the floor with the clothing."

Talli let out what could only be classified as a cluck from the kitchen as Merriam looked over the Marine. Merriam took a few steps closer until she poked Neil in the chest. "Next time, make her pick them up. She is such a slob." She teased the blond. "Ok, Lovie." Merriam called. "I saw him and I will discuss him with you alter." And with that her program ended as Tallida returned to Neil.

"So, she also serves as a welcome wagon," he commented. "Does the good fairy pop in like that often?"

"When I forget to put the lockout protocol on." Tallida replied bring them each a drink. She also had a plate of snacks. "I was a little preoccupied when we got back." She gave him a knowing smile before moving past him and took a seat on her couch. "She has been pretty annoyed with me, for not introducing you two, but she is a hologram. She will get over it."

Neil nodded and took a seat on the couch, "Actually. You were preoccupied in the corridor. Once we hit the door, you were occupied." His lips quirked into a grin then, "Well, actually. As I recall I think you were occupied once we got off the lift...but."

Tallida swatted at him, her cheeks turning red before she leaned over and kissed him. Her eyes fluttered opened and she gave him a smile. "You flutter my brain." She said softly. Not realizing that the sentance didn't make sense but perfectly described his affect on her.

"That sounds like a technical term, but I'll trust that it's a good thing," he smiled at her. One hand moved up to brush stray hair behind her ear. "You have an effect on me I can't describe, really. Considering our first meeting, its something of a surprise. Almost unreal."

She couldn't help but laugh as she turned her had and placed a soft kiss on his hand. "Back when I already knew you were an ass hat and you thought I was a ding bat?" She asked playfully. "Has anyone thought to ask the Science Department if we have passed though an anomaly or something? Something that messes with out better judgement." Her eyes were alight with amusement.

He thought about that for a couple of beats, then grinned. "We might have . On this ship you never know. However, I'm fairly simple. I think I'm just intoxicated from you, though knowing you have a Holo-voyer recording things is interesting."

"I have heard stories of this ship." She smiled leaning forward plucking up her drink and some grapes before leaning back. She took one, placing it it in her mouth before offer him one. "I am sorry about Merriam." She said around the grape in her mouth.

He took the grape and popped it in his mouth, and held up a hand slightly in a stopping motion, "No big deal. I spend too much time with Mik probably, so what's that say." Then he got a mischievous glint in his eyes and said, "And besides, it'll be a good story to tell the kids."

It was all the Angosian could do to not choke on the grape she was in the process of eating when his words computed in her head. Coughing she did her best to recover by taking a sip from her cup. "You have thought about that?" she started her voice breaking slightly as she fought off a cough. "You want kids?" She asked softly.

He nodded, gaging her reaction and said. "I was thinking seven. Genders up to you. Where are you at on it all?"

Tallida watched him for a moment. She was willing her voice not to shake she we started speaking. "I always wanted kids." She said softly. Past tense. Sadness dripped off her words. She couldn't look up at him and instead toyed with the grapes in her lap.

Neil felt like an ass and reached over and touched her chin, bringing her face up. "Talk to me about it? Or not. I won't walk over a tense subject and if I hurt you, I'm sorry Tallida. It's not a subject we needed to talk about today."

She still didn't look up at him at first but then her eyes moved to his face. She took a breath before she made her confession. "I can't have children." She said softly. "At least, they don't think I can, and when they..." Her voice trailed off. "When they tried..." She cleared her throat the anger coming back to her. "I don't know if I can give you that. You deserve that."

"If there's one thing I've learned in all my years its that never isn't always the last word. And we have some road to travel over before we're there, girly," he said gently. "And, right now maybe we deserve each other?"

She nodded. "Sorry," She said softly before looking back at the grapes and twisting off another one before plotting it into her mouth. "I didn't mean to put the horse behind the cart."

He took her free hand and shook his head, "No need to be sorry. I killed the mood off by a half teasing joke. But, ...does this mean I have to pull the cart?"

She looked up at him all confused. Her face twisted with a laugh. "You are a good man, Neil." She said with a smile. "Tell me something awkward about you? So I don't feel so naked?"

He let his eyes fade to a far away look for a moment, then he shook his head as if clearing it. "Sorry," he winked, meeting her eyes again. "I was just imagining you naked again...but you were asking for..oh." He thought for a moment then chuckled. "Well, when I was a lance corporal, I got drunk on Star Base 15 while I was aboard the Hood. I apparently let a Ferengi proprietor put a fluorescent, tattoo on my ass. It flashed green and orange, with his face on it saying 'Eat at Noruk's."

Neil's comment of thinking about her caused Talli to blush, as expected and chew on her lower lip. She listed to him tell the story and then found herself wondering if there had been a florescent tattoo on his ass. The question was obviously on her face as she eyes flashed with amusement. The sadness a distant, and trained, memory. "What?"

"Tallida," Neil asked with amusement, "Don't tell me you were too occupied to notice something like that..."

"Maybe?" She replied sheepishly. "Perhaps I should take another look?" She replied with a devilish smile before she moved to set down the empty grape vine and sit astride his lap. She toyed with the very short hair at the base of his neck.

He shivered and his hands slid up to rest on her waist, one hand looping in the robes belt and he asked, his face getting serious. "Talli, there's something I do need to know though..." then his hands tightened on her sides and he tickled her as he pulled her robe loose. "Are you ticklish?"

She didn't have much time to react nor think out the perilous position she was in with his hands on her waist until she was involuntarily jerking and laughing against him. Soon after she found his lips and kissed him until they were both breathless.

Her movements had pulled the belt loose and he grinned. "I do have to confess, the tattoo was removed, under orders. However, Doctor there might have been scar tissue. Think I should have it looked at?"

Talli chewed her lower lip. "I think you should." She smiled. "I am sure Richard would be able to take care of you." She teased.

He nodded thoughtfully, "That's an idea. Isn't there a new female redheaded nurse in Sickbay? I heard a couple of the Cure talking about her..."

"Hmmm..." She hummed against his ear. "She is pretty hot." She nodded in agreement. "Want me to find out if she is interested?" She teased as she nipped against his ear.

"Might not be a bad idea," he stated, as his fingers found the backs of her knees and teased at the nerves there. "Could get entertaining."

Tallida gave him an amused hum as she kissed him again. Her rested her forehead against him before something to the left of them caught her eye. She let out a giggle. "There is clothing everywhere." She said softly her eyes alight with the amusement she felt.

"Aye," he nodded, blowing softly in her ear as she turned her head. "Good thing Merriam didn't scan the bedroom then. Some of the furniture didn't make it...though I think I can fix the headboard."

Goosebumps tingled across Talli's skin at the sensation on her ear. She turned her head at his mention of her bedroom. Laying her head on his shoulder she shook it side to side before lifting it to look at him again. She kissed him slowly. "Good thing I have a couch, or I would have to find somewhere to sleep." She teased.

He chuckled and returned her kiss, "That's easily solved," he replied, as he smiled into her eyes. "There's always my quarters. This couch though has its possibilities."

Resting and arm on either side of his head, her hands clasped behind him she just watched him for a moment. Her face twisted as if she was pondering something before she moved and pinched his upper arm with no explanation.

Neil didn't react and waited until he met her eyes. "I am real, you know."

"What?" Tallida asked feigning innocence. "Can you blame a girl for checking?"she added softly.

"Nope, but I can think of better ways to check, Tallida," he suggests he and drew her into a deep kiss.

She slid off him and stood up when he finally allowed her a breath. She held out her hand to take his pull him along with her. When they reached the threshold of her bedroom she wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed him before leading him away again. "Lets spare the couch, the bed is already broken."

His gaze floated lower as she walked and he purposely let his head start swaying back and forth in step as she walked. When she looked back at him, he met her eyes and grinned as he asked innocently, "What? Oh. Yeah, The bed. I think the frame just wasn't rated for ...last night. The mattress seemed fine though."

Tallida laughed as she wrapped her arms around his neck and pulled him too her. "No french this time?" she teased as she pulled him onto the mattress with her. "Pity." She smiled as she kissed him.

"Some times certain things leave you speechless," he grinned to her, then he said "Mais le tien est vraiment une oeuvre d'art, mon amour beau cul." He said this as his lips quirked into a smile as he kissed her again.
