Mission: Episode 7 - Home Again
Location: Sickbay USS Pioneer
Timeline: MD002 1430 hrs

Jayna walked into sickbay, hoping there would be someone available for her to get her physical. She wasn't sure if she'd had one in the past year because she hadn't felt there was a need. Avoiding a routine physical wasn't the best thing to do, she knew, but she'd been a little busy and things slipped through the cracks.

The CMO had his back to the doors checking out a supply cabinet. So much had been used during the recent influx of wounded he wanted to make sure everything was in order. with the familiar sound of the double doors, opening and closing Richard turned to see who had entered.

Richard smiled broadly at the newcomer and nodded, "Warrant Officer Jayna, I was about to send a search party for you."

She smiled back. "Then I'm glad I beat you to it. I hope you're not too busy. And it's Warrant Officer Mira. My father was Bajoran." It was a common problem with her as she looked more like her mother than her father. Nobody expected a Vulcan to have a Bajoran name.

"My apologies," Richard said as he blushed, "I should have realized that." He chuckled as he looked at her, "with as many Bajoran's as I have had the privilege of knowing there is no excuse."

"It's fine." Her smile underscored her words. "My Bajoran heritage isn't visible. My parents were quite proud of that." She hadn't meant to add that last bit. She didn't speak of her parents much.

The doctor nodded and pointed towards the biobed, "would you like to begin?" He took the tricorder from his belt and pressed a few buttons on it, "how are you fitting in here Miss Mira?"

"Hard to say as I only just arrived," she replied, moving over to the biobed. "There is always a period of adjustment." Although she wasn't really sure how she fit in anywhere. Her life had been one of frequent change.

Richard smiled and took his Tricorder from his belt to begin the scan, "well you are on a great ship and if you need any help you can stop by my office any time."

She hoped it would be a great ship for her, too. "Thank you, I appreciate that." She looked up at the doctor. "How long have you been on the Pioneer?"

"A few years," Richard said with a smile. He glanced at his device listening to the beeps and listening to the chirps it put off. Pressing a few buttons on the console for the biobed he looked up at the large screen behind the bed, "I think you'll find it as much a home as I do."

"I hope so." Although she wasn't sure she knew what a home really was. From childhood she'd been moving from one place to another, never staying long enough to really put down roots, or make friends. But she had Jayde, and as long as they were together, it was okay. However, now her twin was on another starship, somewhere in the Alpha Quadrant.

"You're fit for duty Mira," Richard offered as he smiled at his patient, "I wish all of our crew was in as good a physical shape as you are.

"You could say it's job-related." She grinned. "Or a perk of the job. Thank you, doctor. And thank you for the welcome."
