Mission:
The Drumhead (Empok Nor Premier)
Location: Lower Promenade - Deck 6 - Central Core - Empok Nor
Timeline: MD001 1400 hrs
Nassie was not sure where to go first, this station was so big. The circular floor plan, was really confusing for her. She looked around the promenade, wondering where to go? She was walking down the promenade ring, when she practically ran into Lieutenant Lwaxana Myles. "Sorry ma'am, I did not mean to bump into you." Nassie said, feeling a little embarrassed.
"Don't worry about it." Lax smiled. "These things happen, Ensign." Lax adjusted her uniform. She had been heading to a Andorian food stand when the run in happened
Sensing the embarrassment, Lax broke the ice. "Maybe you'd like a guide? Being an engineer, I know shortcuts. Especially to the best food on the station." She offered.
"I was told to report to security, to get my credentials and then up to operations." Nassie said, hoping this engineer could help her. "I'm Ensign Nassie Essu, a new operations officer for the station." She said, as she reached out to shake Lax's hand. Also curious, to know, what her name was.
"Oh. I can point you in the right direction." Lax smiled. "Lieutenant Lwaxana Myles, engineering. Most people just call me Lax though."
"I don't have a nick name, maybe I should get one, most people chop up my name." Nassie said, feeling a little guilty for not having one.
"That's how "Lax" happened, believe it or not. My boyfriend at the time got all flustered trying to ask me out, after he fell in a fountain." She laughed, guiding the ensign in the right way. "He mumbled "Laxanawillyougouutwithme?" I sad no. Guy was dripping wet. Anyway, my friends were there and Laxana stuck. Which got shortened to Lax."
"Curious to see what some of the station will end up nicknaming me. Let me get this straight, he used your name to ask you out?" Nassie asked, as they continued down there journey. This Lax person, was the first friendly voice, she had been around. Since she boarded the station.
"Yeah. That was after he got out of the academy fountain." She laughed. "I said no then. But I admired his courage, even as his buddies dragged him off."
"What was he doing in the fountain?" Nassie asked, a little intrigued. What was that man doing in a fountain? There had to be a story there, and Nassie wanted to learn it.
"I was studying with a few people from warp theory class when he was walking across the quad with his friends. Then suddenly he stopped dead in his tracks a few feet away from the fountain. We were on the other side. He decides he wants to come over. I haven't noticed him by this time." She began
"We meet each other's eyes, but I go back to my padd. He started to come over. Splash!"
"Did he not see the fountain, or was he in such a hurry he did not care?" Nassie asked, finding the story to be very entertaining.
"You know something? I never asked him." Lax laughed.
"It's a security thing, we like to be observant, so if you distracted him, than that means, he really liked you off that get go." Nassie said, with a smile on her face.
Lax smiled too. "He sure did. Told me so in a class we shared. Asked me out. I said yes that time. He was more coordinated then."
"What can you tell me about security on this station?" Nassie asked, trying to keep the conversation going. Also seemed like the right point to segway the conversation.
"Its pretty good. Mixture of Starfleet and cardassian." She began. "The cardassian officers are pretty fair."
"Why are the cardassians here, didn't they abandon this station?" Nassie asked, wishing she had paid more attention in history class. She did not realize that Cardassians, had ventured outside of their borders.
"It's like a joint deal going on. Like how the bajorans we're on DS9 I guess. I just keep the lights on." Lax laughed.
It did not make sense to her, on why they would do that. But she really did not have to understand. She walked into the security office, and had a good look around. "Thanks for bringing me here." Nassie said, as she got ready to say goodbye to Lax.
"No problem." Lax replied
