Mission: Episode 7 - Home Again
Location: Ship's Operations Center - USS Pioneer Deck 6
Timeline: MD001 1300 hrs

With all the crew had been through as of late, Jayden hadn’t had a chance to meet either of his superiors in operations. Though the job was ordinarily the same from ship to ship, the chief and assistants had their own way of doing things. Jayden wanted to be certain he was on the right page. He rang the assistant chiefs buzzer.

Paul was seated behind the desk. He was going over the daily reports, this included repair requests and personal files. "Come." He looked up when the door opened.

“Ensign Jayden Robertson,” he identified himself as he came in. “I hadn’t had a chance to meet with you or the Chief since I came in board, Sir.”

Paul stood up and offered his hand when the ensign came in.

Jayden shook the Lieutenant’s hand and waited. One didn’t sit down unless given permission. “I am glad to be serving here.”

Paul sat back down. "Have a seat, ensign. If you want, help yourself to something to drink."

Jayden grabbed a bottle of water and took a seat. “I have been following regulation procedures but I know everyone puts their own spin on the job. Anything I need to know? I am a team player.”

Paul looked at him. "Chances are you'll probably be assigned to the third shift, unless Lieutenant Wakefield and I are assigned to away duty, which means then you'll have to cover for us. It's not unusual that one of us may be at ops for anywhere from 10-12 hours. Any problem with that, ensign?"

“None at all,” Jayden shook his head. He pretty much expected graveyard being the new kid on the block, so to speak.

"You have a good record, ensign, but I would suggest spending some time in the holodeck. There are bridge simulations available to try out. Otherwise, if you don't have any further questions or comments?"

“I don’t and I will,” Jayden nodded. “Thank you, Lieutenant.”

"Any questions you have, feel free to come to me or the commander...I'm sure we'll have the answer." He stood up. "If there's nothing else, you're dismissed."

“Thank you Sir,” Jayden said and headed out the door. It looked like he had a day of holodeck training ahead of him. Rissa crossed his mind as he headed on his way and he sent her a message to see if she was free tonight.
