The main view screen was out and she stumbled over to the science station, stepping on a body that grunted as she pulled it’s view screen. in and looked at the scanner. Her houses ships were sweeping the enemy and she grinned, bearing her teeth. Then she looked at the scans, pulled up a flashing red indicator.

The groan below her caused her to grind her boots into the wounded klingon, who gurgled. Then her eyes found the weapons officer.

She vaulted the station, catching the officer unawares, her shoulder checking him into his console. As he rebounded, she spun him around pulling a D’t thag from her belt and stabbing him a little bit. “You taHqeq!,” she spat “That was no Klingon weapon. What have you done!”

The Klingon warrior grunted in pain, his arms and legs scrabbling to gain some sort of balance. “Because,” he said through gritted teeth, “If the Pioneer had been lost, this whole quadrant would be at war again and we can’t have that.”

She stared into his eyes and sneered, “You’re no Klingon. Tell me why I shouldn’t put you into space to eat vacuum?”

“Because,” he said, his eyes darting about as he finally was able to get his legs under him, “You would miss the chance to save your mother. She’s on that last raider and you might have enough time to save her before it’s blown to dust.”

She looked at the tracking scope and saw other birds of prey bearing down on the raider as it was trying to clear for a jump to warp. Larta slapped the male, then hit the comm’s button. “This is Larta. Disable that last raider. No disintegrations!”

She turned back to the traitor only to see him slapping his arm and de-materializing from her bridge. Larta spat out a string of profanities that had the rest of her crew looking appreciatively at her. “Track that traitor,” she cried and her science officer, who had managed to find his feet, growled. “Beamed aboard the Pioneer. We could finish him with a torpedo spread.”

Larta stared at the Maquis vessel as it’s drive was disabled by another bird of prey’s disruptor fire and she showed teeth. Then rotated the display to look at the Pioneer. The Federation ship was hulled in several places. “No. That taHqeq was right. I will deal with him at a later date. For now, we have earned the gratitude of the Federation and that will reap rewards with the council.”

She walked back to her command throne and sat, “Get this mess cleaned up and restore the main screen.”

Larta touched controls on her throne and contacted the bird of prey that now had the Maqui raider locked in a tractor beam. "Me and mine will board. Stand by for further instructions.”

Standing, she gestured to her second and they headed for the transporter. It was time to have a word with her mother.
