Mission: Episode 6 - Old Habits Die Hard
Location: Orbiting Cardassian Home Wrold
Timeline: MD003 1830 hrs

“Flight, maintain this orbit. Status of the cloak?,” Larta asked from her command chair. The Ram Cha’Par, a B’rell class bird of prey, inched into a close orbit over Cardassia.

There were a series of grunts and then J’Adoz, her first officer said “We are at the coordinates you wished, Captain.” The older Klingon rumbled. “The cloak is operational and all systems are reading normal.

Larta slumped into the command throne, looking at the Cardassian home world through her view screen. Her minds eye could imagine the Cardassian’s scurrying about like dung beetles and her lips curled in both disgust and disdain.

Part of her was very tempted to order the weapons station to empty the torpedo bay into the planet and burn their capital, but that wasn’t why they were here today.

“Good. Continue to run under current orders and monitor the planet with all sensors, I’ll be in my cabin.” Larta stood and strode from the bridge, deciding that her crew needed time to whisper amongst themselves. J’Adoz would keep it to a minimum, but they’d spent two weeks creeping through Cardassian space and the crew was stressing.

In her cabin, she paced. She was stressing too, but you couldn’t let anyone see that. Larta had been tempted to prowl until a crew member got jumpy and gave her an excuse to discipline them but she sensed that wasn’t needed.

Yet.

She knew the Pioneer was due in soon, and then things would likely get interesting. Larta hoped it would lead to her mother, but equally hoped the Cardassian dogs would kill each other off in large numbers.

Alternatively, she would call in her House’s fleet. The dogs needed to keep in mind that the Klingon Empire would not abide their games. Several operatives: spies and informants had recently been rounded up and were awaiting execution.

They had no honor. She smirked to herself then and stopped to take up her sto’ano pipe and sat on a bench near the view port. Larta smoked, letting the ’ano-cha calm her and push back the walls.

These reconnaissance missions weren’t just hard on the crew, but she’d been successful so far and was determined to prove that she was a deserving heir.

Even if she had to sacrifice a mountain of Cardassians and the USS Pioneer.
