Mission: Episode 4 - The Sum of Our Parts
Location: Science lab
Timeline: MD001 1500 hrs

Last Time On Pioneer, So Similar Yet...Not

"Fair enough," Jenn said. "I think we should start with our scans." She wasn't looking forward to go home yet. She didn't know these children. So she had no idea how she was suppose to act.

"Logical." Larim said. He was pleased as punch that he beat the Vulcan to it.

T'San raised an eyebrow. She then handed the tricorder to Larim. "These are all the scans I made. To have a full range, I may have to do a full body scan."

And Now The Continuation...

May 28 2394 1500 hrs (relative time)

Jennifer walked in with T'San Larim and Bers. Jennifer turned to T'San and Bers. "I may need to know about my life here. Though I hope I don't intend stay here that long." If Jennifer was keeping the ruse to her counterparts kids she was their mother, she needed to know.

T'San nodded. "Understandable. Perhaps you and Lieutenant Myles should have dinner in the lounge tonight."

Jennifer raised an eyebrow now. Why would T'San invite them to dinner? Jennifer wondered.

"Dinner does sound like a great suggestion." Bervag said. "It would give you a chance to process information at least. At least it works for me." The trill offered. "Besides. Larim helped me when I got joined. Least we could do is help him and Ms Frazier...I mean Masters."

Larim nodded. "Sounds alright to me."

Jenn nodded too. "Very well, dinner it is." She said.

T'San then stepped in to find Jati in the science lab. "Glen Niall, we are sorry to disturb you, but we require your assistance."

Jati turned around and asked. "What with?" She looked at the Vulcan inquisitively. She wasn't used to a group of fleeters coming to her and actually asking for help.

T'San's face didn't twitch at Jati's reaction. "There has been an accident in an alternate universe." She handed Jati her medical tricorder. "I am not sure what has happened yet, but it appears that misses Frasier and Mister Myles are not who we think they are. They are from an alternate universe. When they told me, I made these scans. We need to find out what happened and find a way to get them back to their own universe and get our crew back. Will you help us?"

Jati nodded and took a good look at the readings. "You're right, this is a different quantum signature." A fancy term for a distinct footprint of a universe at the quantum level. "And this was recent, it's still almost pure." There were some changes to the signature, some mixing of atoms from this reality with wherever these people came from, but that was only to be expected since they had to eat and breathe. "Have you isolated the exact origin relative to our own universe?" Within the structure of the multiverse, one needed precise coordinates if one didn't want to miss and go somewhere else entirely.

T'San wasn't really in to quantum physics as she was a medical doctor. "I am afraid not, but I was hoping you might be able to shed some light on this." She said.

"I could send this data to someone who knows more about this than I do", Jati suggested. "And I'd have to take a few more detailed scans than with a tricorder." She looked at the people in question. "You will have to be scanned at the quantum level in as great a detail as possible. We will need to determine your exact point of origin as well as how long you've been in this reality. Once we know that, we might be able to find an active connection." She had no idea how to create one if they didn't, but that was a question for a later time.

Jenn nodded. "I am ready to do anything to get back to my own universe." She remembered the girl jumping up and down on her. She was barely able to cope with the fact she was an aunt. Now she may have to be a mom.

"I'm at your disposal." Larim said, nodding. He felt a little antsy, but didn't know why. So he just nodded.

"I think the best way to gather this data is to run you through the transporter", Jati suggested. "We'll cycle your pattern through the pattern buffer for about half a minute before rematerialising. The Heisenberg compensators will log your quantum signature in exact detail, and we'll be able to determine which quantum reality you're from. And then, we'll have to work out a way to return you there." She paused, then asked, "Objections?"

Jenn shrugged. "I have no objections. You, Lieutenant?" She turned to Larim.

"Science isn't my thing really. But if you think it'll help, by all means." Larim replied.

"Good. Follow me", Jati said, turning off her terminal and walking out and off towards the transporter room. Once there, Jati started carefully instructing the transporter chief in what she wanted done. She wasn't going to attempt doing it herself, it required delicate manipulation of instruments she had very little experience with. She didn't want to be the one responsible for killing them if it went wrong.

Jenn followed Jati to the transporter room. T'San followed them too. She wanted to make sure everything would be alright with them. She felt it was important as the chief medical officer.

Jati stepped up to the transporter platform, beckoning the doctor over as well. "They might require steadying once they come out", she said. She didn't want them to fall flat on their faces, just in case.

Larim followed behind Bervag. It sort of made him feel at ease. He knew deepdown it wasn't "his" Bervag, hut still. A friend was a friend. He looked to both him and Jenn as he got ready to step on the pad

"Ready?" Jati asked, though she didn't wait for anybody's response. There wasn't much to get ready for. She nodded towards the transporter chief. "Enga... no. Energise. Energise is what we say in this room."

Larim muffled a chuckle.

Jenn grinned to. Slowly she saw the room disappear as she the blue light surrounding appear around her. She never really looked at it. There wasn't much time for that normally. To her using the transporter always felt like going of a water slide. You never what was on the other end and it was over before you knew it.

Larim stood patiently as the familiar blue shimmer enveloped him. Al seemed normal until he caught a red flash out of the corner of his eye. He just assumed it was Bervags uniform and put it out of his mind. Then a green one showed up. weirdHe thought.

"You're getting all the results?" Jati asked the transporter chief, who nodded and confirmed a set of extensive data streams appearing on his console. "Good, then you can bring them back now." She looked at the doctor and said, "Ready to catch him, just in case?" Jati was, should Jenn stumble.

Jenn saw the transporter room appear again. The room was tumbling around her. She looked around and then fell a bit forward against Jeti.

Jati caught her. In retrospect, though, she figured it wasn't quite so pleasant for Jenn. Her Cardassian uniform wasn't as comfortable from the outside as it was from the inside. "Steady, the dizziness will pass soon", she said, holding Jenn by her upper arms.

Jenn put her hand on her head as the dizziness slowly subsided. "Thank you, Glen." She said as she slowly got up an made a few steps getting her bearings.

Jati smiled at Jenn, then let go of her. "Dr. T'San, will you assist me in reviewing the data?" she asked.

Larim was next to step off the pad. Surprisingly steady. Wobbly on his feet he made it down off the pad and leaned up against a nearby wall.

T'San looked a moment to Larim and then turned to Jari. "Yes, Glen. What about my office, I can have the results sent there."

"Let's go", Jati agreed.
