Mission: Episode 11 - Family Matters
Location: Ó Flannagáin Residence
Timeline: MD001 1830 hrs

Quinn could see it in her eyes. Ameri had some questions, and he better be prepared to talk about them. He was not sure what she wanted to talk about first? Was it the promotion he passed over, of the fact that Tyler left him in charge of the Pioneer. And went off on a secret mission, disguised as a vacation. Rumors had begun now that the Captain was sneaking off the ship. Nothing got by Ameri.

Ameri had been waiting for Quinn to get home, she had more questions than answers. Like where was the captain...really. She wasn’t buying on a vacation and coincidentally Jayden had been called off the ship somewhere. Nothing got by Quinn. She was going to get some answers.

“Welcome home,” she said from the couch. “Have a seat, I’ll get you something to drink.”

Quinn instantly wondered what she wanted, he had a few ideas what it could be, but he is was not going to be foolish enough to dig his own hole. "Thanks hunny, you look very pretty tonight." He said, with a warm grin, trying to lighten the mood.

Ameri smiled back at him. “Thank you, Quinn.” She poured him a drink and handed it to him. Ameri sat down and waited for him to take a drink. “So, where is Tyler going on his vacation?” She started the question slowly.

"First name basis huh, okay what did I do? Surely you do not want to talk about Tyler's vacation." Quinn asked, in a teasing and playful manner. He wanted to get to the root of the issue.

Ameri laughed at his words. “You know me best, Babe.” She looked at him. “Tyler takes a vacation, Robertson tags along and yet Kat is still here? Did you honestly think I wouldn’t bring it up?”

"I did not think you would mind one of your junior officer's getting some r&r. I suppose I could have sent you, but then that does not seem fair to me or Enya." Quinn pointed out to her. He did not want to discuss the Kat situation.

“I wouldn’t if he was going with Clarissa,” Ameri returned. “Instead he is vacationing with Tyler. It doesn’t make sense to me.”

"Maybe its a guys trip?" Quinn said, with a big grin on his face. He was trying to back peddle out of this conversation.

“Then why didn’t you go?” Ameri asked him. “You and Tyler are best friends and somehow I think Jayden might be a little intimidated.”

"Happily married guy, rather spend my vacation with my wife and daughter." Quinn said, with a big grin on his face.

“Exactly my point,” Ameri continued. “Jayden is one of my people and I am concerned and Tyler is our friend.” She looked at him. “Should I be?”

"They should be fine, I think they can handle themselves while on vacation." Quinn said, with a big grin, trying to hide the fact that he agreed with his lovely wife.

“You know,” Ameri sighed. “It is apparent that I am not falling for the ‘story’. It would be better for you to just say I can’t talk about it, let it go.”

"Then let it go." Quinn said, thinking this was not going to be this easy. Despite what she said.

“I can’t,” Ameri shook her head. “All this cloak and dagger has me wanting to know.” Her eyes met his. “And I will find out one way or another.”

"I have no doubt, but I have my orders. And I have stated my concerns my love." Quinn said, as he looked to Ameri, to show her, his sincerity.

“So what you’re saying is that I can ask all day long and you are still telling me nothing!” Ameri was irritated. She knew as a command officer there were things he couldn’t but that didn’t help.

"Depends on the topic at hand." Quinn pointed out to her. He hated leaving her in the dark, but this was not the first time he had to do that.

“Fine.” Ameri replied. She was not finished yet, she would do her own research and see what she could find out. If Quinn knew, someone else had to. “If that is the way it has to be, fine.”

"I'm sorry sweetie, I am not at liberty to discuss it." Quinn said, feeling very guilty for keeping her in the dark. It was for her own protection.

Ameri sighed. “I know I have to accept that and know that if I seem irritated or short it isn’t directed at you but the powers that be.”

"How is your team handling Jayden being on vacation?" Quinn asked, wondering how the team was taking it. The entire crew knew they were not really on vacation, but they had to play it up for the cameras.

“They are filling in his schedules,” Ameri replied. “I run a tight department; we are used to covering for one another flawlessly.”

"You run a tight shift, very effecient. I'm very proud of you." Quinn said, with a humbling smile on his face.

“If I didn’t I would expect to be replaced,” Ameri said honestly. “There will always be times when the department is short personnel.”

"You will make a great first officer someday, I know you will." Quinn said, feeling a little patronizing, but meaning every word of what he just said.

“Are you...” Ameri stopped and took a deep breath. “That means a lot to me, coming from you.” She paused then continued. “When Tyler gets back you two really need to talk. We all get that there are times when we cannot be included on details of a mission but this borders on trust. The chiefs of departments who have officers on the line should be trusted or at the very least told its highly confidential instead of a story Enya wouldn’t fall for.” She shook her head. “I don’t even want to talk about it anymore, how about we go eat with the crew tonight?”

"I like that idea." Quinn said, with a big grin on his face. "The crew will need to see that we are still one cohesive unit, and proceeding with the mission at hand." Quinn suggested, as he was more than happy to progress the conversation away from Tyler and his foolish plan.

“You owe me,” Ameri smiled at him. “For letting this go. I won’t be asking you anymore about it but it doesnt mean I am happy.” She sighed. “I’ll let Enya know while you change.”

"I have no idea what you are talking about." Quinn said with a wink in his eye. He was grateful that Ameri said, she was going to let this go.

“You go with that,” Ameri smiled, deciding to let it go for the evening. “I’m looking forward to some family time tonight.”

"First though we need to show the crew the unity of this crew. This crew is a family." Quinn pointed out to her.

“You are right,” Ameri nodded. “It is needed more now than ever.”

"And it was your idea, and I am humbled to have you in my life." Quinn pointed out to her. He was laying it on a little thick.

“You are over doing it,” Ameri warned him. “Let’s get Enya and go before you burry yourself in quicksand.”

"Well its better to overdo it, and not do it enough." Quinn suggested, with a big grin on his face.

“No work talk,” Ameri warned him. “Or suggestions. We’re going to enjoy time with our crew family.”

"I'll do my best." Quinn said, as the scene starts to fade way, with him reaching in to his give wife a hug.

Ameri hugged him back. She was looking forward to their evening.
