Mission: Episode 11 - Family Matters
Location: Robertson/Rockwell Quarters
Timeline: MD001 1700 hrs

"Do you want to go to the mess hall for dinner tonight?" Clarissa asked, as she started to change out of her uniform. She was not sure what they were serving in the mess hall. But she was a little curious to learn what it was. The alternative was to eat replicated food from their quarters.

“That sounds good to me,” Jayden nodded with a smile as he pulled off his uniform and searched for a shirt in his drawer. “Not sure what’s on the menu but I like surprises.”

"That's why I love you." Clarissa said, as she watched him pull off his uniform. She was admiring the view.

Jayden smiled over at her. “Keep looking at me like that and it may be a very late dinner.”

"I am not sure if the Chef will stay open that late." Clarissa said, with a come and kiss me look to her face.

“Probably not,” Jayden’s eyes lit up as he moved over to her and kissed her. “We may have to stay in.”

"And eat replicated food. Umm no." Clarissa said, with a big grin on her face. She liked the man, not enough to eat replicated food. She was of course teasing.

Jayden smiled at her. “I vote for a quick dinner and we come back and have dessert here.” His eyes lit up at his words.

"If I want to wolf down dinner, I would order dinner from our replicator. No thanks." Clarissa said, as she shook her head no.

Jayden grinned. “I knew you’d say that!” He pulled on a shirt. “Let’s go have a leisurely dinner and then go from there.”

Clarissa grinned, knowing that she got to him. Sometimes waiting was for the best. It would build up the tension and excitement. "Thank you." Clarissa said, as the scene starts to fade away.

Clarissa walks into the mess hall with Jayden. "Wow this place is packed." She said, wondering where they were going to sit down and eat.

Jayden looked around. “It must be meatloaf night.” He said with a smile. “Everyone loves it.”

"I am not exactly sure why that is?" Clarissa said, with a confused look on her face. She liked it. But it was not the greatest meal ever prepared.

“Maybe it makes them think of home,” Jayden offered up as they moved in the line. “My mom used to make the best meatloaf with what she called was a secret family recipe.”

"What's wrong with a good steak?" Clarissa asked Jayden. She would prefer a good piece of steak. The idea of steak sounded more appetizing. Tonight though, she would have to suffer with Meatloaf.

“I am with you on that one,” Jayden nodded. “I think we shouldn’t have meatloaf night every week but maybe once a month, it would give us more choices.”

Clarissa was not believing that line, he just spewed. She knew how much he loved meatloaf. "Ya okay." She simply said, nodding her head yes, but saliently saying your lying through her body language.

“Seriously we both know I could eat it more often that that,” Jayden continued. “But I like variety in our food choices and it makes sense.”

"Variety you said, Meatloaf and Salisbury Steak is not variety." Clarissa pointed out to him, with a teasing grin.

“I will eat spaghetti,” Jayden said with a laugh. “Chicken Alfredo to name two, but you are right I seem to get stuck on those two.”

"You need to expand your culinary experience." Clarissa suggested to him.

“I will,” Jayden said with a grin. “Whatever they have tonight I will eat.”

"Now that dinner is settled, when do you leave for the mission, oh I am sorry for your vacation without me?" Clarissa asked him, a little concerned.

“At a moments notice,” Jayden replied quietly. “It will be soon, tomorrow Is what I was told.” He wished he could say more but Jayden was only following orders.

"I'm going to miss you." Clarissa said, as she looked over to Jayden. She put away her strong feministic ego, to be real with him. Typically she liked to hide her emotions behind her ego. Look strong, and not show any weakness.

“I am going to miss you,” Jayden replied seriously. “And at the same time it feels good that I was chosen for this.”

"Means the Captain has a lot of trust in you." Clarissa said, feeling proud of him, but being annoyed that he was leaving at the same time.

“You are right,” Jayden nodded. “He handpicked his team, when I got called to his office I was nervous I’d been transferred.”

"Transferred out, ya that's not gonna happen any time soon. We are to vital to this crew." Clarissa said to him, with a big grin on her face. She truly believe they were.

“I believe that as well,” Jayden smiled. “But him pulling me for this was the last thing on my mind, I am down the rank chain a bit.”’

"Don't be worried about rank, it will come when it is meant too. You are also in a very competitive field. Have you have thought about a lateral transfer?" Clarissa asked him.

“I haven’t,” Jayden said honestly. “But it is definitely something to consider.” He didn’t know why he hadn’t thought of that.

"I'm just saying it's an option, but not something we have to discuss today." Clarissa told him what the reassuring tone.

“And a good one,” Jayden nodded. “When I was going to the academy I had considered engineering.”

"Engineering, oh no hunny. You don't want to work under me." Clarissa suggested to him, with a big grin on her face.

“You’re right,” Jayden nodded. “I was just saying that I would be good with a change.” He smiled at her. “First though I am going to concentrate on this.”

"On this?" Clarissa asked, fearing he would say the mission and not her. But part of her wanted him to say the mission. He needed to learn to stand on his own two feet, if he every wanted to get a head in this universe.

“Spending the evening with you,” Jayden replied with an easy smile. “And then leaving on the mission tomorrow. When I get back then I’ll think about a change.” His eyes met hers. “Right now you are all I want to think about.”

"I hope so." Clarissa said, as she leaned in for a kiss. The scene starts to fade away.

Jayden returned her kiss, looking forward to their evening together.
